Do You Really Need a Tea Set?

Most of us own some kind of tableware.  Our collection may be extensive containing everything matching such as dishes, cups and saucers, serving bowls, tea and coffee sets, sugar bowl and creamer, gravy boat, and serving platters.  Or we may have a basic utilitarian set of tableware.  Either way, we can all benefit from owning a tea set.

At one time silver and gold tea sets were used primarily by royalty.  These are more expensive because of the value of silver and gold.  However, now they are available to anyone who can afford them.  These make wonderful wedding gifts and are often passed down from generation to generation.  Both gold and silver tea sets make a beautiful presentation of your tea when serving guests or entertaining.

You may prefer a china or stoneware tea service-either for practical reasons or because this style suits you better.  China or stoneware tea sets may be available to match or coordinate with your tableware.  Many designs are available in both china and stoneware.  If you are an avid collector, you may choose to own a variety of tea sets.  You can purchase tea sets with a holiday theme, or different colors for different seasons.  Or you may like novelty tea sets which carry out a favorite theme such as angels, or cats, or scenes from a favorite movie.  The possibilities are endless.

Whichever type of tea set you choose, they all keep your tea warmer for a longer period of time.  So you can enjoy more time with your guests and less time making fresh batches of tea.  The type of tea service that you choose also affects the taste of the tea.  You may prefer the taste of tea from a glass tea pot or the extra flavor from a clay or silver tea pot.

If you are a serious tea drinker or collector, you may want to invest in an antique set.  These can be very costly-especially if you want a hand-painted antique set or something like a Russian Samovar-but will become an heirloom that you will enjoy for many years to come.

Whether you are looking for an antique or collectible or just a lovely tea set to serve guests, you will be pleased every time you use your tea service.
